Sterling Surgical Hospital

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I have visitors?

We have an open visitation policy, which means that visitors are welcome at any time. If someone is staying at the hospital while you are having an outpatient procedure, we will update them along the way so they are informed of your progress. If your procedure requires an overnight stay, each room is furnished to allow one family member or friend (16 years of age or older) to spend the night with you. If you do not wish to have visitors, notify the staff and we will limit the number of visitors and the time they are allowed to visit.

  • Can I send flowers or a gift to a patient?

Any mail, flowers, or packages should be addressed to the patient and will be delivered to their room. Any deliveries that are received after the patient is discharged will be forwarded to their home.

  • Does the hospital have a cafeteria?

While Sterling Surgical Hospital does not have a full-service cafeteria on-site, we are happy to provide as many dietary amenities as possible to our guests. All of our overnight patients are provided with dietitian approved meals during their stay with us. For our visitors and guests, Sterling Surgical Hospital has coffee, teas, bottled water and soft drinks (upon request) as well as snacks throughout our waiting rooms and lobby areas. If these amenities do not meet your needs, our reception staff will be happy to get you information on other dietary options in the area.

  • Does the hospital have a gift shop?

We do not have a gift shop inside our hospital.

  • What makes a physician owned hospital unique?

Our physicians are directly involved in all aspects of the delivery of patient care. We provide amenities such as private rooms, family accommodations, a quiet and relaxing environment, specialized treatment for procedures, and an accessible and attentive nursing staff. We believe in providing high quality care in a patient-centered environment. This can be measured by indicators such as staff specialization, clinical staff per patient, low infection rates, low complication rates, and patient satisfaction.

A list of physician ownership is displayed publicly in the hospital as well as can be made available to any patient or guest upon request.

  • Does the hospital offer WiFi access?

Family and friends may contact our patient rooms through our main hospital line at 985.690.8200.

  • How can I find out how much I will pay for my procedure?

Health care billing is complex, but we strive to be as transparent and efficient in our billing as possible so you the consumer is as educated and aware of your responsibility as possible.

Sterling Surgical Hospital's chargemaster is a list of all items and services including the associated charge which is used to produce the bill for your visit at Sterling Surgical Hospital. However, it is important to understand that your insurance plan and many other factors will determine your actual financial responsibility when utilizing any health care provider and utilization of a facility's chargemaster is not the best tool to divine your responsibility for your care.

The chargemaster only includes hospital charges and does not include charges that are billed separately by the physician or other professional fees. Furthermore, the actual amount paid by a patient will depend on the patient’s insurance coverage, as benefit plans very greatly. This is why we encourage all Sterling Surgical Hospital patients to consult their insurance provider with any questions regarding your benefits.

We encourage you to visit Sterling Surgical Hospital's average cost per procedure document linked here, as it can show a patient a more comprehensive pricing guide for Sterling Surgical Hospital top procedures and ancillary services.
